The Trophy – Stag

The Trophy – Stag. As an animal lover it is sometimes hard for me to think about the culling of animals.  This animal in particular.  In the Highlands where the country’s deer problem can be seen. There is a staggering 1.5M deer in the UK. They get into trouble by causing havoc running into the roads and eating farm crops and also cases of Lyme disease has rocketed from the spread by ticks that use deer as hosts.  The red deer eat and eat and overwhelm the delicate moorland ecosystem. There is an argument for and against culling.  I think before we judge we need know the full story and then come to our own take on it.   I love to create this contemporary style of work with its bright pinks and turquoise to bring a little bit of modernity to what would be a very traditional styled topic.
